As much as I would like to believe there’s no such thing as writer’s block, all those articles you refer to do strike me as someone saying, “I thought I was blocked but it was really something else, therefor you’re not blocked either!”
I started a novel in January and the first few chapters were just flowing like mad. I wrote 10,000 words in a week. Then I struggled to write the next 5,000 words over the next two months. Then I went weeks without writing at all.
It wasn’t that I was entirely blocked. I think I could have forced myself to sit down and just write. I had ideas for where the story could go. But they weren’t the right ideas, and I knew they weren’t. So what would be the point?
As of yesterday evening, I think I’ve finally figured it out, and I look forward to sitting down in the morning to start writing again.
