He claims he stepped down because he didn’t want to make the night about him and his past, when in reality all he had to do was apologize.

He has apologized, though.

I don’t like the idea of living in a culture where a person is asked to constantly have to apologize for mistakes made in their past.

It is unquestionable that Hart handled the situation poorly. His response should have been far more respectful, far less entitled.

He should have said something to the effect of, “I’ve apologized for these comments in the past. I stand by the statement I made.” And then provided a link to his earlier apology.

That’s all he needed to do.

Additional apologies seem unnecessary.
