I read my first Murakami in 2018. Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. It wasn’t quite like anything I’d read before. In a good way.

I think this year I’ll be tackling 1Q84.

By now I’ve read “Novelist as a profession”. A rather autobiographical collection of advice to anyone with the lurking idea of becoming a writer. A novelist.

Did you happen to read this in Japanese? Because I’m having trouble finding anything about an English translation.

In his work ethic, Stephen King is quite similar to Murakami. King writes 1000 words per day, Murakami aims for 10 pages per day, no matter what.

A slight correction. In On Writing, King says he aims for 2,000 words per day.

He says 1,000 words is a good target for the beginner, but the intermediate and advanced writer should be aiming beyond that.

Probably just a typo, but I thought I’d mention it.
