My position has always been that I’d like to have kids someday, but only if and when I can afford it. I grew up in a poor household and I saw the strain that it put on my parents’ marriage — and I wouldn’t want to risk my own (future, hypothetical) marriage by placing an undue financial strain on the relationship.

And at the moment, I’m struggling just to make enough money to take care of myself, much less a kid.
