“There were a few passages in which he spends a bit too many words going in-depth about the foibles and petty hypocrisies of small-town life.”

But those are my favorite parts.

I’ve read this book three times. My favorite thing about it is not the horror or the suspense or the vampires — it’s the microcosm of small-town life and the characters who inhabit it. It’s what King does so well, and it’s why I love Salem’s Lot, and 11/22/63, and (despite its faults) Under the Dome.
