This is just wild speculation, but I’d bet that a lot of the Americans who have trouble pronouncing even simple foreign names like Zuheera would probably also have no idea who Tchaikovsky and Dostoyevsky were, and would be equally dumbfounded by those names.
27% of Americans have not read a book in the last year, and 20% of them can’t even name an author. Not one. I would not expect these people to be familiar with Dostoyevsky’s name.
I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that this country is in an education crisis.
